Black Mountain

Black Mountain is a trail in Northern Arizona that takes you from a neighborhood, up a steep incline to a rocky peak at the top.

The Stats:
Hike Date: February 24, 2018
Distance: 2.2 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,194 feet
Published Difficulty: Hard

The Skinny:
Hard is right. I questioned whether 2.2 miles was going to be enough. I was pleasantly surprised by the near-constant incline once you get your car parked – before you’re even on the trail. My veteran (now ex) boyfriend was along for the ride, and thoroughly appreciated the surprise waiting for us at the top.

What’s on the plaque? You’ll have to go to the top to find out. I’m not here to ruin all of the surprises, after all.
